Do you have a passion for driving global impact through commodity strategy and strong market positioning in the baking ingredients and decorations space?  Reporting to the Director, Global Sourcing & Procurement, the Commodity Manager leads end-to-end responsibility for commodity intelligence, supplier management, negotiation strategy, and long-term cost and risk planning. This highly cross-functional role partners with Marketing, Product Development, Operations, Finance, Quality, and R&D to ensure aligned sourcing decisions that support innovation and business continuity. Key outcomes include delivering actionable market insights, qualifying and managing suppliers, optimizing cost structures, and maintaining robust procurement processes. 

 

Ingredients 

  • Deliver consolidated market intelligence for the Baking Ingredients & Decoration portfolio of products and commodities.
  • Communicate market fundamental drivers and their price impact to the global procurement Leadership Team.
  • Create and implement category and commodity risk management strategies and tactics to mitigate the impact of volatile commodity markets for short aligning with Wilton and Dr. Oetker’s long-term strategy.
  • Develop annual and in-year commodity guidance outlooks and long-term strategies to improve competitiveness through innovation, performance, and productivity.
  • Accountable for Sourcing activities through day-to-day tactical and long-term strategic activities for assigned commodities; including the establishment strategic goals, plans, outlooks, objectives, and global metrics.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across companies and business units including Marketing, Product Development, Operations, and key management to develop strategic global sourcing direction for the commodity.
  • Lead the qualification of new suppliers to support innovation and ensure business continuity, including conducting thorough financial stability assessments during supplier selection.
  • Develop Total Cost of Ownership Models of each existing and new product category. Monitor the global commodity market, supply and quality to understand potential cost impacts and leverage positions and set negotiation strategy for suppliers.
  • Establish and maintain measurable performance metrics for all levels of procurement activities for Wilton and Dr. Oetker’s to include but not limited to supplier performance, supplier quality, internal order placement performance, financial performance, and inventory shortage elimination.
  • Consistent delivery on financial and operational goals with a strong focus on execution, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

 

 Equipment 

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a business related field required.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in sourcing.  Global sourcing a plus.
  • Extensive experience in strategic purchasing including at least 3 years’ of international purchasing experience.
  • Background in food manufacturing or ingredients with the ability to evaluate supplier capability, manage risk, and ensure continuity of supply.

 

Instructions

  • High proficiency in MS office, specifically advanced Excel and PowerPoint, along with strong analytical capabilities. 
  • Working knowledge of SAP (SAP, BW), office applications and other purchasing-related systems preferred.
  • Strong understanding of the end-to-end sourcing, including commodity analysis, supplier selection and development, contract and performance management, and supplier collaboration.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including strong written and verbal communication with the ability to simplify and articulate complex sourcing scenarios to stakeholders.
  • Ability to develop & maintain relationships while collaborating cross-functionally within areas of the business.
  • Demonstration of growth mindset by embracing the qualities of agility, curiosity, accountability, and innovation consistent with Wilton’s Culture Recipe.
  • Skilled in total cost of ownership analysis, financial statement interpretation, cost modeling, scenario building, and data visualization.
  • Deep understanding of sourced products and commodities, including market dynamics, cost drivers, global supply structures, contracts, bookings, and lead-time requirements.
  • Ability to plan and execute strategic negotiations that deliver value while maintaining collaborative supplier partnerships.
  • Identifies potential risks early, develops mitigation plans, and approaches problems with a forward-looking mindset.
